Join us for the second stop on our Everyone Here Spark Bus Tour where we bring free art and creativity to different corners of West Cumbria.  

We’ll be heading to Cleator Moor on Saturday 22 February. We’ll be parked at The Cleator Moor Civic Hall where we’ll have activities on the bus and in the hall throughout the day – the perfect way to take part in some free Half Term fun. 

Let’s take a closer look at what’s on: 

Family Storytime with Jessie McMeekin

12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm
Everyone Here Bus 

Would you like more family time and less screen time? Gather the little ones and join us for storytime on the Spark Bus. Storyteller Jessie McMeekin will guide you through some interactive stories where you can all get involved with actions and sound effects, so bring your energy and your voices. Jessie will end with some spell-binding tales to fire up your imagination while you sit back, relax and let your mind paint the pictures. 

Recommended for children aged 3-8 years old. 
Storytelling session is 40 mins long.

Please note that as this session is held onboard a heritage bus, it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility issues.

Street Art with Beardy Synergy

12noon – 5pm, drop by anytime
Cleator Moor Civic Hall Car Park 

Ever wanted to have a go at street art? Well now you can with the help of local spray artist Beardy. Drop by for an exciting and creative workshop with him where he’ll take you through the basics of spray painting. You’ll learn about colour blending, stencilling and layering and there will be plenty of guidance on how to use spray paints safely and sustainably. By the end you’ll have created your very own piece of spray painted artwork to take home.  

Recommended for children 8+

All PPE and materials including spray can handles are provided, though we advise wearing old clothes just in case of any mishaps! 

Mosaic Making with Helen Clues

12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm
The Civic Hall

Fancy creating your own mosaic? Join West Cumbrian artist Helen Clues, to create a beautiful mosaic piece using a variety of materials. There will be a choice of spring themed projects to choose from, all equipment and materials, including ceramics and glass, are provided and you will leave with a finished piece to take home at the end of your session.

Ghost Tales with Lakeland Hauntings

Starts at 7:30pm, bar opens from 7pm
The Civic Hall 

Experience the darker side of Cumbria, an historic region, with a hidden past lurking in the shadows with Lakeland Hauntings. If you think you are brave enough, listen to “The Lady” (local actress Jane Dickens in weird and wonderful form) and her tell tales of “Boggles ‘n sec lyke” for a very Cumbrian haunting.

Getting There

The Civic Hall is just off the main road in Cleator Moor.

The 30 bus runs between Maryport and Frizington, stopping at Cleator Moor. If you get the bus running from Maryport towards Frizington, you can get on in Siddick, Workington, Harrington, Distington, Whitehaven and Hesingham and get off at ‘The Square’ in Cleator Moor, which is a minute walk from the Civic Hall. If getting the 30 from Frizington, you also get off at ‘The Square’ bus stop.

The 22 bus runs between Cleator Moor and West Cumberland Hospital. If you get the bus running from West Cumberland Hospital, you can get on in South Hesingham, Moor Row, Bigrigg, Egremont and Cleator and get off at ‘The Square’ stop.

The nearest train station with connecting buses is Whitehaven.

Car parking can be found in The Square Car Park, only a minute from the Civic Hall.
