Party in the Park Brings Thousands Together for a Weekend of Community Celebration

Despite a spell of typically unpredictable Cumbrian weather, Party in the Park once again brought the Workington community together for a fantastic weekend of entertainment, creativity and family fun at Vulcan Park.

Across the weekend, visitors enjoyed live music, performances, family activities, community organisations, food, games and plenty of opportunities to get involved. Saturday’s Community Talent Show, hosted by Spud from The Cumbria Guide, showcased an incredible range of local talent, with a special congratulations going to this year’s winner, Bailey. Thank you to everyone who stepped onto the stage and made the afternoon such a memorable celebration of local creativity. Sunday’s programme continued the fun with the Fancy Dress Competition, hosted by Top Hat and Heels, alongside a packed programme of activities that kept visitors entertained throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the return of Oddsocks Productions, whose outdoor performances of Romeo and Juliet delighted audiences on Friday and Saturday evenings. Rain certainly didn’t dampen spirits, with audiences embracing the weather and enjoying the company’s trademark mix of Shakespeare, comedy and audience participation.

Everyone Here would like to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, performed and supported the event. Special thanks go to Workington Town Council, Cumberland Council, The Cumbria Guide, CRFM, The Carnegie Theatre, Helena Thompson Museum, Soundwave, Rock With, Jake Bragg and Oddsocks Productions, whose support helped make the weekend such a success. Thanks also to photographer Tom Kay, whose images perfectly captured the energy, laughter and community spirit that made Party in the Park 2026 another memorable celebration for Workington.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along, embraced the Cumbrian weather and helped create such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
